In 2010 we moved into our beautiful purpose built school, providing a clean, safe, environment to educate the children. Ron and Jo Domingo who ran our youth programmes stayed behind and formed their own charity called Kalayaan Community Ministries and continued to serve the wider community. Jane Walker ( our founder ) recently visited Ron and Joanna and together have agreed to start a new livelihood programme in the old school.
The building has deteriorated but is not beyond renovation, and in March building work starts to create a room where the out of work youth and vulnerable parents who attend their Church can learn new skills and earn a regular income for themselves.
We are very excited about this new partnership and Jane in particular is especially excited to be returning to her roots!
Our appeal continues as more funds are needed for this project and to establish another livelihood project in Pakistan. A project that is close to the hearts of our Cross Border Stitchers ladies in Hampshire.
